New York Fashion Week has recently ended with spring and summer trends begging for attention. Winter surprised us all with its viciously low temperatures; now, it is time to think about brighter, warmer and happier days.

Here are some of the spring trends to know ahead of time so you are prepared to step into spring with style:
Every spring, pastels make a comeback. They were everywhere on the NYFW runways. With chilly winds still in the air, pair a lavender sweater with black leather leggings and black ankle boots. When it starts to get warmer, pair a mint green button-down blouse with sand-colored trouser shorts and brown, leather sandals.
2. Black and White
Do away with the grey this spring. To look fresh and sharp, wear a contrasting get-up of black and white. While black may seem like a go-to color, adding white will brighten the look and turn some heads. Simply pair some white trousers with a black blouse, or mix it up by adding a graphic tee. No matter the season, this color scheme is the definition of chic.
Sheer clothing is the perfect way to show some skin in a semi-conservative way. The sheer trend can be sexy or sweet and delicate.
4. Crop tops
Showing your midriff has not gone out of style just yet. As seen on the runways, crop tops have become an essential piece for any wardrobe. They are great for a day of exploring the town or a night out on Sixth Street. Although crop tops are typically paired with high-waisted bottoms, NYFW designers frequently paired them with low-rise pants this year. Make this spring the time to go out on a limb and show that tummy off!
5. Wide-Legged Pants
Wide-legged pants were another staple at NYFW. These are easy to wear, but finding the right pair will require some research. If you are tall, look for some that fall right at the waist. If you are short, try a high-waisted pair. Mix it up by pairing them with a suit jacket or a shift blouse.
6. Athletic wear
Athletic wear took over NYFW this year. There was no shortage of varsity jackets and baseball caps on the runways. The casual aesthetic is great for college. Leggings and oversized t-shirts did not make an appearance on the runway, however, so spice up your athletic wear!
